Oops! Somebody forgot "Smoke on the Water" (Number 4 in 1973). If that's not metal...

"Hush" (Number 4 in 1968) was even earlier, but of course "Smoke on the Water" was a lot heavier.

When I was growing up, we had a few Cadillacs. No "shiny gold hubcaps", and they were bought used, er, ah, "pre-owned" :-), but they were nice cars. I don't remember what happened to the white 1960 convertible with the red interior (how much money would that car be worth now?), but when we moved to Hawaii, we shipped the beautiful 1969 gold-painted Caddy (bought in 1976) over there, where it promptly rusted away.:-( The metal hardware, snare drum shell and cymbal stands of my drum kit hated Hawaii's warm moist climate, also.
