Use Me – Bill Withers
Editor’s note: Bill Withers is NOT a one-hit wonder. But he is an American original and a great vocalist who deserves greater acclaim. He also helped Grover Washington Jr. become a one-hit wonder for their 1981 smash, “Just the Two of Us.”
Another song from my all-time top 10. Bill Withers released “Use Me” in 1972 on his great record titled Still Bill. This is solid, soulful music by a man who should be far more famous than he is. Still Bill not only includes “Use Me” that topped out at #2 on the Billboard charts in 1972, but also “Lean on Me” that was named #205 on Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.
I’ve included a live version of “Use Me” below. Plus, as part of my evangelical commitment to sharing as much great music as possible, I’ve also included “Lean on Me” and “Ain’t No Sunshine.”
And you can also check out Bill’s #2 hit with Grover Washington Jr. on “Just the Two of Us” from 1981. A song that made Washington a one-hit wonder.
Give Bill some love and ten minutes of your time. His music is well worth it.You won’t regret it.
